TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO BE COMMITTED DISCIPLES IN
GOD'S KINGDOM HERE ON EARTH
The Sunday Morning class is continuing to explore the practice of spirituality. Jesus’ life and death, culminating with his resurrection, provides the foundation for living a Christian life “in the Spirit.”
With this foundation, we are considering topics in “Spirituality 101,” followed by a look at our Presbyterian roots in “Reformed Spirituality.” We will conclude with the practice of “Older Adult Spirituality.”
We are now meeting every Sunday morning in the church library, wearing masks and observing social distancing guidelines.
Please join us! We have engaging and inspiring conversations regarding our walk of faith.
The annual Mullen Lecture program seeks to bring in acclaimed speakers from diverse theological backgrounds during the summer season. This year, the Mullen Lecture committee is delighted to announce Prof. Maxwell Miller as our 2021 presenter at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 12, and Monday, September 13.
Prof. Miller is an emeritus professor of Old Testament at Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He has conducted archaeological excavations and written books about ancient biblical sites, and written three books on the biblical history of Israel.
Prof. Miller will preach during the Sunday worship service on September 12; his sermon will focus on “Christians in the Middle East.” On Monday, September 13, he will offer a lecture on “Israel and Palestine: how did we get here and what’s next?” His presentation will convey his observations from over 25 years of conducting his scholarly and archaeological work in the Middle East.
