Annual Meeting of the Congregation and LuncheonSunday, February 19, 2017
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation takes place every year in February immediately following the 11:00AM service. We gather in Coleman Hall during this meeting for a light lunch. Each Ministry Team submits reports for their 2016 programs.

Heritage Sunday/Welcome Back Sunday June 4, 2017
Dedicated to the Glory of God on September 13, 1885, First Presbyterian Church of Highlands has welcomed people for 132 years, no matter who you are, where you have come from or why you are here. We are Christ’s people and this is Christ’s place with its doors open wide. Heritage Sunday, celebrated annually, was first celebrated on July 22, 2012 and is a time to give thanks for God’s grace that has strengthened this congregation for 132 years.

There will be Welcome Back Reception immediately following the 11:00 service in Coleman Hall. We love our seasonal members and friends and we are so glad to welcome them back. Please join us as we celebrate their return.

Annual July 4th Patriotic Mini Concert July 4, 2017
First Presbyterian Church will present the annual patriotic mini concert at 8:00 pm on Saturday, July 4th. This free concert will last approximately 45 minutes, ensuring plenty of time to watch the town fireworks display. Featured will be the Highlands Male Chorus under the direction of Joe Powell. Come early to get a good seat!

Interlude Concert Series Beginning Wednesdays in July
For 18 years this series of mini concerts has been sponsored by First Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation. The concerts take place every Wednesday at 2 pm and alternate between the two churches each week. Dress is informal and there is no admission charge for the event. Interlude programs are a ministry in music to our many visitors, members and friends, providing a time to reflect, to be refreshed and to be renewed. Come and enjoy an interlude of music!

Annual Church Picnic July 9, 2017
Our annual Church Picnic will be on the church grounds immediately following the 11:00 service. We will have tables outside on the grounds and patios. Dress casually if you like, bring a blanket or quilt to sit in the grassy areas. If the weather does not cooperate, the picnic will move into Coleman Hall. Please join us!

Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan August 20, 2017
This annual event is purely an American tradition that celebrates Scottish heritage. To learn more about the history of the event please read our bulletin by clinking on this link Kirkin’ O the Tartan - A Celebration of Heritage.

Food for Fuel September 3, 2017
In September, our church will host the 7th Annual Food for Fuel Luncheon to support the Highlands Emergency Council’s Emergency Fuel Fund. That fund is critical in helping many residents of Highlands heat their homes through the winter months. One of the things that is exciting about this venture is the breadth of involvement that support this event. First Presbyterian’s Mission Ministry Team partnered with the Congregational Care Ministry Team hosts the event. This event is widely embraced by this congregation and the Highlands community and takes place in Coleman Hall from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Come support the Highlands Emergency Council, invite your friends and family, enjoy a delicious meal and share your blessings as we warm the homes of others. Call the church office at 828-526-3175 for more information.

Empty Bowls October 1, 2017
The Empty Bowls project is an international effort to fight hunger. Guests are asked to purchase a hand-thrown bowl to be filled with soup and then kept as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. All proceeds will benefit the Food Pantry of Highlands, a collaborative project between The International Friendship Center and the Highlands United Methodist Church. The soup bowls are hand-thrown by volunteer potters at the Bascom Center for the Visual Arts. There will also be a silent auction of special bowls created and donated by professional potters at the Bascom. Call the church office at 828-526-3175 for more information.
