The Session has designated Sunday, May 30, as the grand reopening of First Presbyterian Church for in-person worship. Thank you for the patience and understanding that you have shown during this all-too-long time of isolation. We will keep you posted on guidelines that will need to be followed, including masking and social distancing. Still, what a joy it will be to join together in worship once more!

The Highlands Community Child Development Center (HCCDC), formerly the Presbyterian Daycare, opened on Valentine's Day 2005. The center provides the only, state-licensed, full-year, 5-day per week, 10 hours per day child care program in the Highlands Township. HCCDC is designated a Four-Star Center by the State of NC based on the quality of its programs and the educational credentials of the staff. For more information visit: http://hccdc.info
The Sonshine School Afterschool Program assists parents by providing a safe, Christian, caring environment for children after school. We strive to create a clean, nurturing atmosphere where a child can grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. As a Christian center with affiliation to the First Presbyterian Church, we will provide a moral and spiritual environment where each child is treated with respect
Children in grades K-4 are eligible to attend our program. We help parents by assisting students with completing homework, providing daily literacy activities, and engaging students in enrichment activities to balance learning.
Our operating schedule follows that of Highlands School: we are open on the same days that Highlands School is in session. This schedule varies, especially this year due to changing COVID-19 mandates. Currently the Sonshine School hours of operation are 3:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
