Notice Regarding the COVID-19 Crisis:
Since we regrettably cannot meet as a congregation in our sanctuary, we have worked out a “next-best” plan for holding worship services. Please check your email every Saturday evening or Sunday morning for a link to the Youtube channel, which will air our Sunday service of that week. If you are not on our church email list, you may find the video by searching Youtube for “First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, NC,” and the services will appear according to date.
We encourage you to view the video at 11:00 am so that we may all virtually attend worship together. Until we may meet again in person, Christ’s peace be with you all.
TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO BE COMMITTED DISCIPLES IN
GOD'S KINGDOM HERE ON EARTH
First Presbyterian Church publishes a monthly newsletter. If you have an article or an idea about the monthly newsletter or would like to receive the newsletter through our monthly emailing, please contact one of our editors, Marty Boone or Christy Kelly at the church office, 828-526-3175.
Our vision is for a Faith and Fellowship Center that is an active and daily part of the lives of the congregation of First Presbyterian Church, Highlands, as well as the community which our church serves. The center should be a center of faith, love, and service to God. It should be our gift to Him in thanks for his wonderful gift to us.
The Annual Meeting of the Congregation takes place in January every year, immediately following the 11:00 service with a luncheon in Coleman Hall. At that time Annual Reports from each Ministry Team are presented to the congregation.

The process of creating the strategic plan for the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands began in June of 2011. The intent was to set goals for a three to five year time period that support the mission of the church and achieve a clear vision. An intensive process was pursued to thoroughly examine all aspects of the church. The Vision 20/20 Team led the effort, utilizing focus groups and surveys, to gather as much information from as many sources as possible. From the compiled information, a vision was cast, meant to be aspirational, and to pave the road for a strong future. Once achieved, the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands will be a stronger, more vibrant, and diverse entity with a bright and stable future.
